Summers puppies almost 3 weeks old.

During the ring training at the KC Echt, I had met Peggy Jeurnissen, who is an absolute Bearded Collie fan. She had asked me if I needed some help. She was available on Saturday and could come by to help me. These kind of questions you should not ask me twice at this moment. At 10.00 hrs Peggy was here and afterwards we cleaned all the whelpingboxes. Fed the puppys and at the moment that they where all satisfied and tired, made some pictures. Peggy is a natural born and made the most beautiful glamour pictures. Afterwards, I was finally able to go and do some shopping and Peggy went for a walk with the bigger dogs. Lovely, I was a happy person.

Summers puppies have learned to eat proper food and since two days don’t get any more extra puppy milk. The underground of the whelping box also changed. Please don’t think that we are loveless and just let puppies walk on newspapers and only have two baskets. A part of the whelping box they needs for as a toilet. From the moment they can walk they go away from the basket or the blanket and do their needs somewhere else. However if the whelping box is full of beautiful light blue, pink or other baby like colored blankets, the puppies will never ever learn where they can and where they can’t do their needs. They will pee all over. That is 40 years of experience. People have the tendency to humanize dogs and to pay no more attention to their normal needs. A whelping box or puppy house that has been stuffed with toys, does not mean: “we are so good with our puppies”. First of all they discover themselves and than their brothers and sister. In a later stadium they start playing with toys, but saturation should be avoided. Whatever, our puppies are clean with 8 weeks, because they have learned to do their needs outside.

As it seems, this puppy already has a strong herding instinct, because he laid himself on top of Shawn the Sheep, in which is a warm water bottle inside.

For the first time they get a 5-star meal. Terra Canis for puppies mixed with a little bit of Esbilac Puppy milk at body temperature. Because they are still young and can’t eat with fork and knife, but can only swim thru the food, they seem to look a little bit oiled on the following pictures.

So, ready for the weekly glamour pictures with Peggy Jeurnissen behind the camera. However, the smallest one didn’t want to sit still.
